The History of Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough is based in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire and was formed in 1876. The Club played at Ayresome Park from 1903 to 1995 and since then they played at Riverside Stadium. The clubs highest finish was in the 1913–14 season when they gained the third place. They have spent two seasons outside the Football League's top two divisions. In 1899 they were elected to the Football league, wearing a white shirt and blue shorts. After the reformation of the club in 1986, the current Middlesbrough crest with the lion in the middle and the words "Middlesbrough Football Club 1986" around the circle was born in order to reflect this new start.
